Faith Cometh by Hearing – Rom 10:17

The last couple days I’ve been pondering or thinking about a Bible verse Romans 10:17 (KJV) – So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

I was remembering that I read my Bible silently many times and wondered if reading it out loud should be the norm and not so much reading silently. Is reading the word out loud somehow more powerful than not???

The Right Thing, The Wrong Way by Pastor J.D Faraq, Part 3, Romans 10:16-21

“Unshakable faith develops as we embrace the foundational truths of the Bible. The sovereignty of God is one of those truths. To have faith that bears up under the hardest trials, we need to know that God is always in control. What do you believe about your heavenly Father? God’s sovereignty can be a hard truth to believe when your daughter is diagnosed with a brain tumor, when someone you care about is dying, or the place where you work has closed. And with international scandal and destruction, you may question even more.

God invites us to discover the truth of His sovereignty through the pages of His Word. He bids us come to Him in faith. He beckons us to draw near to know the Truth—Jesus. (John 14:6) He awaits our turning to Him with our fears and doubts so that He may reveal the depths of His love and wisdom.

God has filled His Word with assurances of His sovereignty, care, and concern for us. If we honestly long to know Him as He really is, He promises we will. (Jeremiah 29:13) Set aside preconceived notions about how God should act, and the Holy Spirit will reveal that God is exactly who He says He is. Then, as we know Him more fully, our faith will grow in depth and steadiness.

Jesus Himself invites us to come to Him and learn from Him. (Matthew 11:28) Won’t you accept the Savior’s invitation and discover the truths that lead to unshakable faith?”

Godly Meditations

Godly Meditations …

Reflections, Musings, Thoughts, Contemplation …

These are some of my reflections …

To God Be the Glory, Kitty <^.^>

Isaiah 55:8-9 … New King James Version (NKJV) … “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. 9 “ For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Who can know your thoughts oh God? Certainly not I a creature of your design, made in your image, with your breath of life filling my lungs. Who am I but a vapor that appears on the earth for a short while and then is gone, either to heaven or hell.

James 4:14 … whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

Humans look at themselves and say to themselves in pride, we’re not so bad look at all the great things we’ve done, but God looks down from the heavenly realms and says Repent and Turn from Your Wicked Ways!!!

2 Peter 3:9 … The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is long suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Ezekiel 33:11 … Say to them: ‘As I live,’ says the Lord GOD, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’

Who is greater than you oh God, Creator of Heaven and Earth? Who sees the beginning from the end? Who plots the design of the universe and sets the stars in their place and the planets on their orbits, it is you oh Great and Merciful God!!! You are worthy of glory, honor and praise forever and ever!!!

Amos 5:8 … He made the Pleiades and Orion; He turns the shadow of death into morning And makes the day dark as night; He calls for the waters of the sea And pours them out on the face of the earth; The LORD is His name.

2 Peter 3:9 (KJV) 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Colossians 2:16,17 King James Version (KJV) 16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: 17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Ezekiel 18:23 “Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?”

Habakkuk 2:4 “The just shall live by faith.”

Hebrews 11:1 The apostles wanted more faith so they could meet the challenges of God’s demands, but Jesus knew that it was not quantity they needed but quality. They did not need an increase of faith that would bring some reward following its use, but a faith that, although small like a mustard seed, is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Isaiah 55:6 “SEEK the Lord WHILE He may be found, CALL UPON HIM while He is near.”

Joel 2:1 Hear Ye the Lord O my people. Sound the alarm in His Holy Mountain. Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble for the day of the Lord Cometh.

John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not parish but have everlasting life.” … How much love is that? How much love is it for a father to give up his son to die for you or me? How many earthly rulers would give up their son to die for you or me?

Luke 10:2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

The Judgement and Mercy of God

12/13 2011 – A couple weeks ago I finished reading in the book of Jeremiah in the Bible. (KJV) While reading this book I learned the following things: God is just and he is merciful. He warned the people of Judah many, many times before he punished them for their sins. They were worshipping idols and sacrificing their children to false gods and would not repent of their sins/wickedness. Even in judgement God thru Jeremiah told the people that if they would humble themselves to the King of Babylon before his army laid the first siege to the city of Jerusalem, they would live. Some humbled themselves but many did not and it did not go well for them and they were slain or died of plague and starvation.

Jeremiah was even thrown in prison for speaking God’s truth/word to the King and the people of Judah. They did not want to hear what God was telling them. They would not repent and turn from their sinful ways and as a consequence God was forced to punish them. He did not want to punish them but he had to. God is just and holy and cannot let sin continue in people’s lives. Sinners must repent and turn from their sins and seek God’s grace and mercy. When they do this with a humble, obedient, repentant heart God will forgive their sins. If they would have repented and turned back to God they would not have been overtaken by the Babylonians and taken into captivity for 70 years.

While reading this I pondered how much this sounds like the world we live in today. We sacrifice our precious little ones on the alter of convenience and end their lives with abortion. We say it’s okay for two men or women to marry one another. Our idols come from the entertainment and sports industry. We do not defend the poor and the widow. We have forgotten the many blessings that God has bestowed upon us and have forsaken his love. Then we wonder why things are in such a mess? Very sad…

Judgement is coming for us too. Sooner than anyone can even imagine. I hope you know Jesus as your Savior? Time is short and the storm clouds are on the horizon even as I write this. Are you noticing the signs?

To God Be the Glory, Kitty <^.^>
